My approach to therapy

I work from both a humanistic and depth therapy lens. This means that my approach is holistic, relational, and focuses on bringing into awareness all parts of the self through experiential work together.

With young people, I draw on somatic, mindfulness, talk, and play modalities.

With parents, I enjoy taking on more of a coaching, or consultation, role to share about mental health, neurological differences, and developmental needs of their child.

I utilize my experience and training in:

  • Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Brief Solution Focused Therapy

  • Play, Art, and Movement

  • Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

Young Adults

With young adults, I enjoy working in a manner that engages the whole heart-body-mind connection. I use somatic and mindfulness techniques, to help you feel into your body. I pair this with talk therapy techniques, to help in connecting the feelings that arise in the body to the mind. From this place of a more integrated self we explore who you are. Together we look at mental health, developmental, societal, and neurocognitive differences that may be contributing to discomfort.

Children and Teens

I work with your child or teen in a manner that matches their development. With teens I enjoy working in a way that engages the whole heart-body-mind connection, through mindfulness, somatic embodiment, and talk therapy modalities. With younger children I find myself engaging more of the creative modalities with art, play, and movement. In these ways I help your child to expand their sense of knowing and safety in the body. This is foundational in developing a grounded identity and knowing of self, and in regulating emotions as they arise.

Parents

I provide both coaching and therapeutic services to parents. With coaching, I will help you to learn more about your child’s development and specific needs, or help you in navigating the schools. With therapeutic services, we focus more on how your parenting journey is impacting you and ways you’d like to grow. Your child might be living as a neurodiverse person, exploring their identity, feel disconnected, and/or have feelings of sadness, loneliness, or anxiety. I can help you to show up as the best version of yourself for both you and your child through all of this— I will help you to navigate your child’s growth with discernment, compassion, and wisdom.
